Description

Be creative with wood using conventional and hand woodworking techniques to build your own unique small piece of furniture or crafted artefact. Suitable for those with previous experience.

Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone who has an interest in woodworking. No previous experience needed.

What can I expect to learn?
You will become creative with wood by experimenting with different tools, learning how to saw correctly, making initial carcass construction joints and about the structure of trees to enable you to make a small woodern item. The course will include health and safety rules while using tools and equipment in the studio.

How will I know how I am progressing?
You will negotiate your objectives with the tutor at the start of the course and these will be reviewed regularly. The tutor will provide developmental feedback throughout the course to ensure you get the most from your learning with ACL.

Will I have any homework?
No specific homework will be required but practising skills learnt in the studio will greatly assist your progress.

What will I need to provide?
It is essential that you wear strong shoes and clothes which are suitable for machine operation. Note book and pen.

What can I do next?
Following completion of this course prepare for further learning on a consolidate your skills course. There are opportunities throughout the year to exhibit and/or sell you work.
