Are you ready to start your journey to becoming a potter? If you are inquisitive, creative and open-minded then this course is just for you. You will be introduced to skills and materials working with clay whilst learning different techniques, including hand-building, decorating and glazing to produce at least one item of your choice. You can be as creative as you want with this versatile medium whilst working towards a qualification. Please note you will undertake an assessment and study skills at the start of the course.

At the start of the course you will complete an assessment and study skills to support you in the achievement of the qualification.
You will receive information about the course content.

This qualification does not have a written exam at the end of the course but is achieved by the completion and submission of a short digital portfolio.
What Qualification/level is this course?
This course leads to an
NCFE Creative Craft Entry Award
(Please note Pottery will not listed on the NCFE certificate).
ACL will provide a certificate to confirm Pottery has been studied.
Who is the course for?
This course is for beginners and those with a keen interest in the subject. You will learn pottery techniques and gain confidence in the area.
What can I expect to learn?
You will learn:
To design a project and make at least one item including
Clay preparation
Making pinch pots
Slab building
Glazing
To use tools and equipment safely.
How will I learn?
You will negotiate your objectives with the tutor at the start of the course and these will be reviewed regularly. You will create a short digital portfolio to record your progress and evidence your achievements.
How will I know how well I am doing?
You tutor will set targets with you the start of the course and you receive developmental feedback throughout the course.
Research and recording of your work will be in both digital and non-digital formats and you be expected to record your work and progress digitally.
Will I have to do any work at home ?
You will be encouraged to research at home and work on your digital portfolio.
What will I need to provide?
You will need to wear old clothes or an apron.
It will be beneficial to have access to a computer or laptop.
