Description

The Diploma for Residential Childcare (England) at Level 3 is suitable for Residential Care workers with experience in the role. The qualification aims to give learners an opportunity to develop a solid understanding of the children and young people's workforce and provides a recognised qualification for employees within the sector.

The Diploma for Residential Childcare (England) at Level 3 is suitable for Residential Care workers with experience in the role. The qualification aims to give learners an opportunity to develop a solid understanding of the children and young people’s workforce and provides a recognised qualification for employees within the sector.

Duration
There will be an expectation for candidates to achieve the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare within 18 months

Assessment
Assessment is through submission of evidence in a portfolio to demonstrate that the requirements are met to a relevant standard. This will include observation evidence on the job.

Entry requirements
Candidates will require level 2 standard in English. Candidates must be experienced practitioners, and hold an appropriate job role to collect the relevant evidence. Candidates will undertake an initial assessment to determine the appropriate level and working for a minimum of 15 hours per week for the length of the course.

Qualification structure
To achieve the Training Qualifications UK Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England), learners must complete a minimum of 62 credits. This is achieved by mandatory completing 17 mandatory units, to demonstrate their knowledge of the subject as well as competence in the workplace

Delivery methods
An assessor will be assigned to support the learner through the qualification. This will involve observation of the learner in their workplace. There will also be workshops online to support the learners through the knowledge and understanding. Competence based units are assessed in the workplace, using observation, witness testimonies, work products, candidate accounts and questioning.

Cost
This course is funded for those eligible under the governments Free Level 3 courses for Jobs. For those who are not eligible the course can be funded under the government Advanced Learner Loan scheme. The cost of the course is £2,882.

Unit A/617/9782: Support and promote the rights, diversity and equality of children and young people in residential childcare. Unit F/617/9783: Support working in teams to benefit children and young people in residential childcare. Unit R/617/9786: Professional development in residential childcare. Unit D/617/9788: The care system and its impact on children and young people. Unit H/617/9789: Residential childcare for children and young people with complex disabilities or conditions.
