Explore the medium of clay in this introductory workshop and learn some basic modelling skills that you can take home and practise with your children.

What Qualification/level is this course?
Beginners and all abilities. No experience necessary.

Who is the course for?
Explore the medium of clay in this introductory workshop and learn some basic modelling skills that you can take home and practise with your children..

What can I expect to learn?
By the end of this workshop, you will have developed your skills and knowledge of the basic do's and don't's of modelling with polymer clay (FIMO), as well as blending and aspects of colour theory. You will learn how to make a flower can and how to bake the modelling clay at home.

How will I learn?
Your tutor will use a number of different teaching methods to develop your skills. These will include a wide range of authentic materials, individual study and group discussion.

How will I know how well I am doing?
The tutor will discuss your progress with you regularly and give developmental feedback. This will support you in reviewing your progress and achieving the most from the course.

Will I have to do any work at home?
No, as a one day workshop, there is no homework for this course. However, you will need to keep notes of colour recipes in a sketchbook during the day and if you wish to bake your clay, you will need to do so at home.

What will I need to provide?
You will need: - Pencils and coloured pencils - Rubber and ruler - A set of multicoloured fimo clay, which can be bought as a starter set - Glass/ceramic sheet to work on without ridges - Plastic rolling pin - Sharp knife with a thin blade - Basic plastic modelling tools - Old credit card To bake clay at home, you will require: - An oven - Oven tray dedicated to FIMO - Foil
