Dive into the world of pottery in this engaging course suitable for all levels. Whether you are just starting out or are a more experienced potter looking to add that professional polish, you will develop skills to suit your level in a supportive and inspiring environment.

Who is this course for?
Suitable for beginners or those with prior knowledge who wish to practise, develop and improve their skills.

What can I expect to learn?
By the end of the course beginners will have developed their knowledge, practical skills and understanding of - The basic skills and techniques of producing hand built pottery, Pinching, slabbing, coiling and modelling with clay. Decorative applications and glazing of work. Learners with previous experience will practise, develop and consolidate their skills and will negotiate further targets with the tutor to produce some bespoke items.

How will I know how I am progressing?
You will negotiate your objectives with the tutor at the start of the course and these will be reviewed regularly. You will be given a sketchbook to record your progress and evidence your achievements. The tutor will provide developmental feedback throughout the course to ensure you get the most from your learning with ACL.

Will I have any homework?
Home study is optional but you will be encouraged to research to further develop your skills.

What will I need to provide?
All clay and glazes will be provided. A plastic tub will be needed to reclaim your clay and a pen/pencil. Please wear old clothes and bring an apron.

What can I do next?
Following completion of this course prepare for further learning on a consolidate your skills course. There are opportunities throughout the year to exhibit and/or sell you work. Creative qualifications routes are available to support you gaining employment or entry to higher education. Ask your tutor or customer services for further guidance.
