Release your inner wordsmith! This course offers further development and support to improve your creative writing skills for pleasure or towards getting your work published. It is an ideal follow-on course from a Making Progress Creative Writing course and also suitable for anyone with some previous experience. You can attend this course in the centre or online from your computer at home . If you wish to attend online then please call 0345 603 7635.

The course is not accredited but the skills and confidence you may develop can lead to further education and publication opportunities.

Who is this course for?
Suitable for those with some experience of creative writing, either through attending courses or informal practice.

What can I expect to learn?
Explore further techniques and influences from different sources to inspire your creativity and develop your writing skills further. Gain understanding of key considerations in preparing for publication to a wider audience; identify publication outlets and sources of information and support to help you progress further.

How will I learn?
Teaching methods include tutor presentations, supported by tutor handouts, group and individual activities, peer discussions and critiques, with use of information and learning technologies where appropriate. You can choose to join the course via Teams or attend face-to-face sessions in centre. Please indicate at enrolment which you prefer. If you wish to join the course via Teams, you need to have a suitable digital device, Wi-fi and a camera.

How will I know how well I am doing?
Your tutor will give you feedback on classroom activities and tasks undertaken. Individual learning outcomes will be agreed at the beginning of the course, taking into account the course aims and your aspirations. These will be reviewed with you at regular intervals and you will be encouraged to reflect on your own learning and record your feedback in your Individual Learning Plan.

Will I need to do any work at home?
Home study is optional; but you will be encouraged to work away from the course to develop your skills.

What will I need to provide?
Paper, pens & folder to keep your work and handouts.

Are there any other costs?
No. However, your tutor will recommend further reading, research and/or websites for further independent exploratory learning.
