This rolling course allows learners to enrol throughout the year and achieve either a level 2 award or level 2 diploma in Applied Science and technology (depnding upon the learner's starting level and the time left available on the course run). The qualification is intended to give learners the knowledge, understanding and skills that will enable them to progress to qualifications in a science or technology related area at a higher level or to employment in a science or technology related area.

What Qualification/level is this course?
This course is a level 2 diploma in Applied Science and Technology The qualification is intended to give learners the knowledge, understanding and skills that will enable them to progress to qualifications in a science or technology related area at a higher level or to employment in a science or technology related area.

Entry Requirements/Application Process
Applicants must attend a science assessment, take part in the pre-course interview, and complete a maths and English initial assessment.

What can I expect to learn?

How will I learn?
Your tutor will use a number of different teaching methods to develop your skills. These will include a wide range of authentic materials, individual study, working in pairs/group activities and will include the use of video/audio. You will also have the opportunity to use online learning technologies to develop your skills. There will be a mix of directed, self-directed study, practical work, and distance learning methods used within the course. You will participate in conducting practical laboratory experiments. These practical activities will ensure that you can experience, and be familiar with, using apparatus and techniques, and be able to apply appropriate safety procedures. If you have selected an in-centre course all of your sessions will be based within your chosen centre. If you have selected an online course your taught sessions will be online, however your practical sessions will take place within an ACL centre.

How will I know how well I am doing?
You will submit work as part of a portfolio of evidence. Your work will be marked and you will receive feedback from your tutor on your achievements and progress on the course.

Will I need to do any work at home?
We recommend at least 6 - 8 hours a week to complete research, reading and home study. Typically.

What will I need to provide?
Learners will need to have access to a computer or device to enable them to visit the online platform to complete and submit work. Telephone to enable tutor contact. Pens, pencils, rubber, paper, calculator, and ruler.
