This course further explores how changing our cognition and behaviour can promote healthier self-care, and support mental health and is an ideal progression from the ACL Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Introduction course. Learners should have an existing understanding of concepts and basic techniques in the subject, or attend the introduction course prior to enrolling. Learners should have a good level of English speaking and listening skills. This programme does not provide a professional qualification or entitle the learner to practice cognitive behavioural therapy professionally. The course is live online and learners will need a laptop or PC with current operating system and internet browser, webcam, microphone and audio facility, internet connection and ability to access websites.

This course does not lead to a qualification, is for personal development at beginner level.

Who is the course for?
This course is suitable for those learners who have attended the ACL Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Introduction course and anyone wishing to delve deeper into the subject to gain further knowledge of cognitive behavioural therapy . Learners should have a good level of English language speaking and listening skills. This programme does not provide a professional qualification or entitle the learner to practice cognitive behavioural therapy professionally.

What can I expect to learn?
You will learn models, concepts and gain further knowledge in identifying how CBT can assist in modifying/changing cognition and behavior to promote ‘healthier self-care’, and support mental health.

How will I learn?
The course will take place live online, in a virtual classroom, facilitated by a tutor. Sessions will be interactive with video and audio for tutor presentations, group discussion, group and individual activities. This course may consist of ‘flipped’ (homework in course time) and blended individual/group learning whilst in the virtual classroom using breakout rooms. The course will make use of different applications and is both interactive and reflective. Teaching methods may include tutor presentations, reflections on homework, Q&A, group discussion, pair work, role play.

How will I know how well I am doing?
Your tutor will give feedback and you will be encourage to reflect on and record your own progress.

Will I need to do any work at home?
Homework reading and activities may be required and you will be encouraged to reflect on your learning, review course notes between sessions to get the most from your course.

What will I need to provide?
You will need a laptop or PC with current operating system and internet browser, webcam, microphone and audio facility, internet connection and ability to access websites. A notepad and pen.
