Description
This online live, fast paced course will enable you to achieve a GCSE in English Language. The course is a combination of online live sessions with a tutor and self-study. There are two morning sessions per week which you must attend. You must have a suitable device such as a laptop or pc with a camera, access to the internet and ideally have a printer and scanner. You are required to attend a pre-course meeting with a tutor where you will be able to discuss the suitability of the course, before enrolling.

What Will Happen At My First Lesson
You have a course induction which will include study skills.
This is an online live course with access to a self-study course. This means that you can complete activities and tasks when it suits you, however, you are required to complete a minimum of five hours working online and are expected to attend two 2 hour sessions per week. This is an intensive course which requires self-motivated independent learners.
What Qualification/Level is this course?
Please note that in order to enrol onto a GCSE course it is a requirement that you attend a pre-course meeting with a tutor to discuss the suitabilirty of the course.
It is recommended that you undertake only one GCSE per year. Please discuss this with your tutor.

Who is this course for?
Anyone who has successfully completed the initial assessment, and wants to gain
a GCSE in English Language in a very intensive format. High levels of motivation
and commitment are necessary to complete an online course of study at GCSE
level.
What can I expect to learn?
Topics covered by GCSE English include: speaking and listening; creating presentations; developing the ability to construct and convey meaning in written standard English; and, interpreting texts from 19th, 20th and 21st centuries.
How will I learn?
This fast track GCSE is a combination of weekly online live sessions with a tutor and other learners alongside access to a self-study course. You will complete your course of study with the guidance and support of your online tutor. You will be expected to attend two 2-hour sessions a week in addition to completing self-study tasks. Tutorials may be provided by different tutors and there will be a number of additional daytime tutorials available and some evening tutorials.
How will I know how well I am doing?
You will receive regular feedback from your tutor on the work you submit.
You will also complete a personal progress record to help the tutor support your learning needs.
Will I need to do extra work at home?
This is an online course where substantial home study is essential.
This is an intensive course over 17 weeks. All work will need to be completed to ensure you gain the most from your course.
What will I need to provide?
You need to have access to a device where you can comfortably work for several hours. You need to have sufficient Wi-Fi and be able to access Teams or our Virtual Learning Environment for your weekly sessions.
