Description

Learn how to tune in to self-care needs and connect with your compassionate heart. A compassionate heart involves responding to basic needs with mindfulness, kindness, understanding and empathy, leading to a greater sense of wellbeing and self-care needs. Learn how to soothe stress and difficulties by experiencing mindfulness practices to reduce feelings of stress, low mood and anxiety. Mindfulness, befriending, and compassionate practices are powerful practices that can aid emotional, mental and physical stressors, promoting emotional resilience and a greater sense of wellbeing.

To participate in this course, you will need to have access to a computer, laptop or other device that can utilise video and sound files to access the course and internet connection.

What Qualification/level is this course?
This online course is for personal development and does not lead to a qualification

Who is the course for?
This course is for anyone who would like to practice mindfulness and learn about compassionate self-care.

What can I expect to learn?
By the end of this course you will be able to: Name one pioneer that has developed mindful compassion; Experience a compassionate, mindful meditation that identifies personal needs for wellbeing and self-care; Experience a loving-kindness meditation practice guided by Dr Kristen Neff; Discover additional information and resources that can support mental, emotional and physical wellbeing.

How will I learn?
You will be working independently at a time and place that suits your needs. You will be accessing a range of learning materials and resources from our online learning site. The session will be interactive and available to engage multiple times to equip participants with a range of immediate application tools for application in their own lives and share with others in their personal or professional lives.

How will I know how well I am doing?
There is a self-assessment quiz included within the course for you to gauge your achievement.

Will I have to do any work at home?
As a single session online course, there is no requirement for additional homework, however further practise of the techniques delivered will increase your skills. There are also further reading suggestions made if you wish to broaden your understanding of this subject.

What will I need to provide?
You will need to have access to a computer, laptop or other device that can utilise video and sound files to access the course and internet connection.

Are there any other costs?
No. Reference will be made to a range of supporting texts which learners may wish to access for independent study. However, these are not essential to the programme.
