Description

This course is centre-based. In the ACL Mental Health and Wellbeing Programme, this 2-week course offers an introduction to self-help strategies to manage anxiety, exploring what causes anxiety and tools for self-monitoring and coping with anxiety. The course offers group learning facilitated by two tutors who have professional and lived experience of mental health. Our Mental Health curriculum is funded by Essex County Council to support its residents to improve their wellbeing. To be eligible for this course you must reside or work within Essex.

What Qualification/level is this course?
This course does not lead to a qualification and is for personal development.

Who is the course for?
To be eligible for this course you must reside or work within Essex. This course is for those wishing to learn how to manage anxiety and take back control over their mental wellbeing. This course is not suitable for those who are currently in a state of severe emotional difficulty or psychological confusion.

What can I expect to learn?
You will gain an introduction to self-help strategies to help you manage anxiety.

How will I learn?
Classes are with two tutors who have professional and lived experience of mental health. Learning activities will include tutor presentations, group discussions, group and individual activities, individual reflection and a chance to ‘check-in’ at each session in a supportive learning environment.

How will I know how well I am doing?
Feedback will be given regularly by your course tutors and you will be encouraged to reflect on your own learning and keep a record of your progress.

Will I have to do any work at home ?
You will be encouraged to practice techniques in everyday life, to help develop personal strategies to manage your anxiety.

What will I need to provide?
A notepad and pen for notetaking.

What is the cost of this course?
There is no charge for this course. This course is funded by Essex County Council to support its residents’ wellbeing.
