Description

This distanced learning course will enable you to achieve GCSE English Language (AQA).

You will work through a series of units in your own time, on a day / time that suits you. A tutor will mark the work you submit and give you feedback. Tutorials will be offered as needed. Progress will be rigorously monitored; you will be expected to do a minimum of 3 hours self-study plus any additional homework set each week.

You will need to complete an assessment and attend a virtual pre-course interview with a tutor before starting this course, during which you will be able to discuss all the options available to you. Click on 'How to Enrol' button on the right-hand side of this page to book your assessment.

What Will Happen At My First Lesson
This self-study course is designed so that you can learn at your own pace and when you have the time to focus on your learning. However, you are expected to complete at least 3-4 hours of self study per week. You will have a dedicated tutor who will track your progress and mark submitted assignments. You will have the opportunity to attend arranged tutorials online and will be required to attend mock examinations in centre. You must have a pc or laptop in order to enrole onto this course.

What Qualification/Level is this course?
Please note that in order to enrol onto a GCSE course it is a requirement that you complete a GCSE pre-course meeting with a tutor. It is recommended that you undertake only one GCSE per year. Please discuss this with your tutor. GCSE English Language awarding body: AQA

Who is this course for?
This course is for any learner who, having successfully completed the initial assessment, wants to gain a GCSE in English Language. High levels of motivation and commitment are necessary to complete this GCSE course.

What can I expect to learn?
Topics covered by GCSE English are: speaking and listening: individual presentation, developing the ability to construct and convey meaning in written standard English and read and interpret texts from 19th, 20th and 21st Century.

How will I learn?
You will be learning on our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) where you willl navigate your way through sections of the GCSE English course. This means that you have the freedom to choose when to complete activities though you are expected to complete at least 3-4 hours of self-study per week. Your tutor will track your progress and check that you are completing the amount of work required to achieve. You will complete self-marking tasks and other activities which will be marked by your tutor. You will have the opportunity to attend online tutorials, if required.

How will I know how well I am doing?
You will review your progress at the end of each completed unit. Your tutor will help support your learning needs. You will receive regular feedback from your tutor on the work you submit.

Will I need to do extra work at home?
Substantial home study is essential. All work will need to be completed to ensure you gain the most from your course.

What will I need to provide?
You need to have access to a device where you can comfortably work for several hours. You need to have sufficient Wi-Fi and be able to access Teams or our Virtual Learning Environment.
