This course provides a flexible learning opportunity to advance your knowledge of the software within Microsoft Office. This level 3 advanced course includes Word, Excel, Databases, and PowerPoint. Following a precourse assessment, learning can start at any time whether it be for your own benefit or to gain the highly valued and recognised International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL). By attending a precourse assessment, we can ensure that you enrol on the most suitable starting level for you.

Qualification Aim/Level
These sessions offer Microsoft Office training. You must undertake an initial assessment prior to enrolling on this course. If you are unable to attend on the IT Pre Course Assessment dates shown, please leave your contact details at the relevant centre and the tutor will call you to arrange a mutually convenient time.

Who is this course for?
This course is for those who need a more flexible IT training opportunity, which can start at any time. It is for those wishing to increase or their Microsoft Office skills. This is an advanced (level 3) qualification which requires prior achievement, or already working competently, at level 2. The course includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Databases. If you are looking for work, or a change in job role, we can also support you to gain a valued and recognised ITQ (ICDL) qualification to enhance your CV.

What can I expect to learn?
If you are looking for advanced study (level 3 ) in Word, Excel, Access databases, PowerPoint, this can be discussed at the Pre Course assessment session.

How will I learn?
You will be working independently either at home or in one of our Skills Hubs through the learning materials. You then will attend a weekly online tutorial with a tutor who will support your progress.

How will I know how well I am doing?
The learning materials consist of practical activities and exercises which are used to check learning and progress. Tutors will monitor your development of new skills and provide regular feedback.

Will I need to do extra work at Home?
Learners undertaking an IT Qualification will be expected to complete at least three hours homework each week. It is always beneficial to practice what you have learnt between sessions.

What will I need to provide?
In order to enrol on your chosen course please bring the following to your initial assesment: Evidence of any prior qualifications National Insurance number- If in receipt of a state benefit and wish to apply for a reduction in the fees Passport if you have not been resident in the UK/EAA for the past 3 years. Proof of ID (Passport or photo driving licence) for award body registration. The tutor will advise you of anything else you need to provide but you may find it useful to bring a notepad and pen for making notes and a USB memory stick for saving work. As a learner with us, you will have access to the online version of Office 365. Please note that the online version may have features that differ from desktop versions you have previously used. Are there any other costs?
You will be given access to online courseware for your learning. If you would like to use additional/alternative resources you can purchase a book for each unit and bring these to the sessions. Please ask your tutor for details. Depending on individual circustances you may be required to pay re-sit fees for any failed assessments of the IT Qualification (ICDL).
