Description

Gain confidence in speaking whether it's for work, formal occasions or to overcome a stammer, this course will provide lots of practical tips and strategies to help you speak the way you want to.

This course does not lead to a qualification and is for personal development.

Who is this course for?
Anyone with an interest in the subject, no previous experience required.

What can I expect to Learn?
Covering a range of breathing techniques that calm and reduce feelings of stress or anxiety to gain confidence in speaking, including: 1. Deep breathing to relax and project your voice better 2. Pause and breathe to help you avoid speaking too quickly 3. Practising mindfulness or meditation breathing exercises to improve your breathing control and awareness. 4. How to relax your body so that you feel more in control and focus on how you wish to project your voice.

How will I learn?
This course is live online, with tutor and group meeting in a virtual classroom. A range of teaching and learning activities including tutor presentations and group and individual discussion and activities, reference to online resources.

How will I know how well I am doing?
Tutor feedback, evaluation activities and self-reflection will enable you to understand your progress. Assessment will be on-going throughout the course linked to an individual learning plan to be regularly updated with learner and tutor feedback.

Will I need to do extra work at home?
Yes you will be encouraged to reflect on your learning each week and practice the techniques learnt to develop skills and apply them to your everyday lifestyle. Learning resources and internet links to further information supports learning between sessions.

What will I need to provide?
Internet connection, up to date operating system and internet browser software. A notepad and pen for notetaking.
