Our Let’s Get Digital course is suitable for those who have no or very little knowledge and experience of digital skills. Once completed, you will have the solid foundation skills to progress onto other Digital Courses.
What can I expect to learn?
In this course, you will gain a solid understanding of what computers do and become familiar with their main components. You'll explore different operating systems and useful applications while mastering mouse usage and computer navigation. You'll learn secure login practices, how to create strong passwords, and improve your typing skills for better efficiency. Additionally, you'll differentiate between web browsers and search engines, conduct effective searches (including using Google Maps), and understand websites, URLs, and safe online practices while managing cookies. You'll also learn how to shop online safely, fill out forms accurately, and troubleshoot common computer issues. Finally you’ll discover the basics of email, including personal versus professional use, good email etiquette, and how to identify scams.
How will I learn?
The classroom based learning will be a mixture of demonstrations, discussions and lots of hands on practice using the devices in our IT suites. There will an experienced tutor to help and guide you at all times.
How will I know how well I am doing?
You will undertake tasks and receive feedback on your results. Feedback may be verbal or written. You will record your progress on an individual learning plan.
Will I need to do extra work at Home?
No homework will be set but it is highly recommended that all new skills are put into practice outside of the class.
What will I need to provide?
You will need a notepad and pen for making notes.
As a learner with us, you will have access to the online version of Office 365. Please note that the online version may have features that differ from desktop versions you have previously used.
