Build on your current digital skills in our interactive course designed to help simplify your online experience!
Learn to navigate File Explorer, create and manage folders, and customise your Windows settings. Master Microsoft Word by creating documents, using formatting tools, and exploring saving and printing options. Gain confidence in online information management with price comparisons, safe transactions, and booking appointments.
Prioritise safety by understanding two-factor authentication (2FA), recognising scams, and creating secure passwords. Finally, enhance your email communication skills by composing, replying, and managing your accounts effectively.

Qualification Aim/Level
This course will provide a basic level of training in Digital Skills.

Who is this course for?
Are you using digital technologies in limited ways but would like more confidence to engage with technology? Our Building Digital Confidence course is suitable for those who have little knowledge and experience of digital skills, and once completed, will have provided you with the foundation skills to move onto other Digital courses.

What can I expect to learn?
In this hands-on course, you'll learn how to get started with File Explorer, create and organise folders, and customise your privacy and security settings on Windows. Master the basics of Microsoft Word by creating simple documents, adding and deleting text, and utilising formatting tools like spellcheck and copy-paste. You'll also explore various saving options and printing techniques to make your documents shine! Get savvy with online information management as you carry out price comparisons, bookmark your favorite sites, and understand copyright issues while transacting safely. You'll gain the confidence to book appointments, renew your car's MOT, and secure tickets, all with just a few clicks! Safety is paramount in the digital age, so you'll also learn best practices for online security, including two-factor authentication (2FA), recognising scams, and managing cookies and tracking. Plus, discover how to create secure passwords and assess the reliability of websites. Finally, enhance your communication skills by effectively managing email apps. Learn how to compose, reply, and manage your email accounts while recognising potential scams. You'll even master attaching files and sharing links effortlessly!

How will I learn?
The classroom based learning will be a mixture of demonstrations, discussions and lots of hands on practice using the devices in our IT suites. There will an experienced tutor to help and guide you at all times.

How will I know how well I am doing?
You will undertake tasks and receive feedback on your results. Feedback may be verbal or written. You will record your progress on an individual learning plan.

Will I need to do extra work at Home?
No homework will be set but it is highly recommended that all new skills are put into practice outside of the class.

What will I need to provide?
You will need a notepad and pen for making notes. As a learner with us, you will have access to the online version of Office 365.
