Description

Develop your practical piano skills and understanding of music theory in this engaging course . This course is suitable for beginners and those with some prior experience.

Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for beginners and those with some previous experience.

What can I expect to learn?
You will learn all the material (or equivalent) for an ABRSM exam, you will practise sight-reading and tackle various technical exercises to improve strength and agility. You will develop a technique for independent practice and will choose and practise a piece of your own choice for performance. You will also revisit and extend your knowledge of the key cycle and the relationships between major and minor keys.

How will I know how I am progressing?
You will negotiate personal objectives with the tutor at the start of the course and these will be reviewed regularly. The tutor will provide developmental feedback throughout the course to ensure you get the most from your learning with ACL.

Will I have any homework?
There will be homework set each lesson. Good progress tends to reflect practice that is conscientious and careful rather than the amount of time spent in practice.

What will I need to provide?
For the first session: You will need to bring any pieces you are currently learning and a pen, pencil and rubber. Your tutor will give you information about resources needed for the rest of the course during the first session, but these will be kept to a minimum.
