Description

This workshop will run you through the process of how to create a beautiful fabric rope basket. You will be introduced to a range of techniques needed to create the piece of fabric rope and then how to use this to produce your unique basket.

Who is this course for?
For those who have little or no experience of textiles. The course will show you how to create a fabric rope basket using a range of techniques including using a sewing machine!

What can I expect to learn?
The course will cover all the basics you need to know about how to create a fabric rope basket and will include some basic machine sewing. Your tutor will use a number of different teaching methods to develop your skills. These will include a wide range of authentic materials, individual study. You will also have the opportunity to use online learning technologies to develop your skills.

How will I know how I am progressing?
The tutor will discuss your progress with you regularly and give developmental feedback throughout.

Will I have any homework?
You may need to complete your basket at home, however the aim of the course is to complete this piece during the session.

What will I need to provide?
You will need to provide: A range of scraps of fabric: at least 25cm in length, the longer your fabric is the better. However this project is a fantastic way of using up all those fabric scraps you possibly have. Cotton based fabric is the best to use. - Some sewing machine thread - Fabric scissors - If you want to bring you own sewing machine that is fine however there are also machines available to use in the centre.
