Develop your understanding of how the textiles industry impacts climate change and explore a return to traditional methods as a sustainable alternative.
Who is this course for?
This course is for anyone who has some knowledge of working sustainably with textiles, but would like to develop their skills and knowledge further..
What can I expect to learn?
You will learn about the impact of industrial processes in textiles and explore traditional and more sustainable approaches such as the use of natural dyes.
You will develop sustainable competencies such as collaboration and problem-solving that will prepare you for employment and/or future study.
How will I know how I am progressing?
You will negotiate personal textiles objectives with your tutor at the start of the course, in addition to sustainability objectives. You will be provided with verbal and written feedback throughout the course and will be expected to collect a portfolio of evidence either digitally or in a paper format.
Will I have any homework?
Your tutor will set you tasks to complete between sessions to enable you to further apply skills you have learnt.
What will I need to provide?
Please bring to the first session a notepad and a pen and pencil. Your tutor will advise you if you are required to purchase any other materials and you are advised not to make expensive purchases prior to the course start.
Please note that where possible recycled and environmentally friendly materials will be used for this course and we advise you to repurpose household items where possible.
