You must enrol/attend a Pre course Hair assessment/interview prior to enrolling on this course. This course is a Level 3 qualification for those wishing to work in the Hair industry.
This dynamic course is designed for experienced hairdressers looking to enhance their skills and knowledge in the latest trends and techniques within the industry. Students will delve into advanced cutting, coloring, and styling methods, as well as explore creative and avant-garde approaches to hairdressing..

What Will Happen At My First Lesson
The first week of your course will include Study Skills. Good Study Skills are vital to ensure you gain the best from your course. The Study Skills session will give you the opportunity to discover the best way that you can learn and fully understand the requirements of the course.

Who is the course for?
Hairdressers qualified to L2, wishing to upskill to L3. When enrolling on the L3 hairdressing programme, it is desirable if you currently work in the industry or can obtain a workplacement in a salon, but this is not essential to the course.

What can I expect to learn?
The course will provide the knowledge and practical skills necessary to demonstrate a professional approach in the workplace including the need for appropriate communication with clients and colleagues, units will include:- Working in the hair industry Salon reception duties Consultation support for colleagues on hair services Cut women’s hair to create a variety of looks Style and dress hair using a variety of techniques Colour and lighten the hair to create a variety of looks Creative Hairdressing Design Skills Colour Correction In addition the learner will need to understand and implement good working relationships with colleagues and clients.

How will I learn?
Your tutor will use a number of different teaching methods to develop your skills. These will include a wide range of authentic materials, individual study, working in pairs, group activities and will include the use of video/audio. You will also have the opportunity to use online learning technologies to develop your skills.

How will I know how well I am doing?
Progression and Achievement will be monitored by the course tutor, and reviewed with the learner at identified intervals The learner will be responsible for their Manage Assess e-portfolio, which is part of the evidence required for the qualification Ongoing internal assessment and feedback of assignments Feedback and action planning of practical skills Regular tutorials Learners’ wishing to obtain the full qualification should be able to show a high attendance record and be able to demonstrate successful achievement of the related skills Internal Verification and External Moderation takes place at intervals throughout the course

Will I need to do extra work at Home?
Learners must be prepared to set aside additional time for the practice of techniques and skills acquired on family and friends as well as completion of essential theory and home assignments via ILT research, reading and revision of approximately 10 hours per week

What will I need to provide?
Learners should bring to the class: 2 x A4 ring binders, polypockets and a clipboard, a pen and A4 notepad,

Are there any other costs?
The basic starter kit will be included within the course fees, and will be given to you on day one of the course. Please note it is your responsibility to replace any items of the kit that become unusable or lost. Learners will be required to purchase the following items: 2 black hand towels Tunic & Trousers (approximate cost £20 per item) and worn with own black shoes. Leggings are permitted only with the longer line tunics. On line assessment re-sit fees may be applied in accordance with current Awarding Organisation guidelines at the time. ** Please note it may be necessary for a second tuition head to be purchased during the course at a cost of approximately £35.00. This can be purchased from your local hairdressing wholesaler. It is not advisable to buy tuition heads on line as the quality may not be suitable. Books as recommended by the tutor Consumables for home practice

What can I do next?
Learners will be able to seek employment in locations such salons, health spas and cruise ships The tutor will also advise on course progression within the College programme and to Further Education opportunities. Barbering courses are available as progression
