You must enrol/attend a Pre assessment/interview prior to enrolling on this course.
This course will provide training in all aspects of reflexology to enable you to provide a relaxing and destressing treatment that will lead to a qualification that allows you to practice professionally.

In this course, students will explore the ancient practice of reflexology, learning about the connection between pressure points on the feet, hands, and ears to specific organs and systems in the body. Through a combination of theory and hands-on practice, students will develop the skills to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and support overall well-being through the art of reflexology. What Will Happen At My First Lesson
The first week of your course will include Study Skills. Good Study Skills are vital to ensure you gain the best from your course. The Study Skills session will give you the opportunity to discover the best way that you can learn and fully understand the requirements of the course

Who is the course for?
Those wishing to perform professional reflexology treatments in either a salon, medical auxiliary, home or office setting. Professional reflexologists need a good standard of written and spoken English to communicate effectively with clients and other professionals. You will be required to take a Literacy and numeracy skills test, followed by a formal interview, before being accepted on to the Course. The course is taught and assessed in English - if English is not your first Language, please discuss this at interview with your tutor. Literacy and Numeracy skills have to be at Level 2 or above to gain access to this Course.

What can I expect to learn?
Health, safety, hygiene and security with regard to the complementary therapy industry. Principles and practice of the complementary therapy industry. Knowledge and understanding of anatomy, physiology and common and less common pathology of the human body. How to prepare for and provide an effective reflexology treatment and adapt to client requirements. Contra-indications and contra-actions, advice to be given to the client, record-keeping, evaluation of treatments and reflection on professional practice

How will I learn?
Your tutor will use a number of different teaching methods to develop your skills. These will include a wide range of authentic materials, individual study, working in pairs/group activities and will include the use of video/audio. You will also have the opportunity to use online learning technologies to develop your skills.

How will I know how well I am doing?
On-going feedback from your tutor. Assessment methods will include summative assessments of reflexology working on a wide range paying clients to demonstrate your competency, multiple choice assessments (tests) of anatomy & physiology and health, safety and hygiene and written assignments.

Will I have to do any work at home ?
An over view of the different Systems will be taught in class but Yes, expect to commit at least 20-25 hours at home in researching, completing assignments, case studies and completing one of the two anatomy and physiology units as home study. You will need to perform 100 case study treatments and submit associated records and reflections.

What will I need to provide?
You will be expected to wear a suitable uniform (black tunic - order form provided, plain black trousers, and fully enclosed low shoes - not trainers), purchase a text book and stationery items, such as ring binder, pens, pencils and clipboard. Exact requirements and supplier details will be provided at the first session. ACL will provide products and consumables for practical sessions and you may like to purchase equivalent for home practice. Access to Office & Word programmes, the internet and a printer are necessary to complete various projects and research during the course. If you are enrolling on the e portfolio programme (details of this course will be given to you at the time of interview) regular computer and internet access is essential.

Are there any other costs?
Approximate costs are: Uniform tunic £22 (Text books (2 ) £15 each Reflexology for Holistic Therapists by Francesca Gould Anatomy and Physiology for Holistic Therapists by Francesca Gould Towels £20 Bolster or pillows £20 Foot powder and cream £10 for home practice Exam entry is free but resits are charged £10 per paper

What can I do next?
Seek work in a salon/spa or self -employed. Progress to advanced reflexology or other holistic therapies
