Description

In this dynamic woodworking course, you will dive deeper into the artistry of woodworking. The course will ignite your creativity and refine your craftsmanship enabling you to produce your own designs to build some wonderful bespoke items.

Please note if you did not take the Woodworking Level 1 award you will undertake an assessment and study skills at the start of the course to gain the nationally recognised qualification.

What Will Happen At My First Lesson
You will complete a refresher task to assess your current skills and begin negotiation of the projects you will undertake to support you in the achievement of the qualification. Full details of the course content will be covered.

This qualification does not have a written exam as the qualification is achieved by the completion and submission of a digital portfolio.

What Qualification/level is this course?
The course leads to an NCFE Level 2 Award in Creative Craft. (Please note this is a generic qualification and woodworking will not be listed on the NCFE certificate as the craft studies. ACL can provide a certificate to confirm woodworking has been studied.

Who is the course for?
The course is for those with the Ncfe Woodworking Level 1 Award in Creative Craft or experience in the subject to a level 1 standrad . You will gain confidence in the subject and learn that the creative possibilities are endless while working towards a valuable qualification. What can I expect to learn?
To develop and adapt ideas creatively by exploring a range of practical woodworking techniques including surface preparation, a range of construction methods, joining and finishing methods. The safe use of woodworking hand and electric tools Use research to explore both contemporary and traditional carpentry techniques and how they influence your approach to woodworking. Develop your knowledge of different types of wood and how this impacts on design Explore design concepts to identify suitable resources and styles to complete your practical craft projects. You will create, evaluate and present your finished craft item/s at the end of the course. You will present a digital portfolio of evidence to gain the qualification. You may also wish to collate your work and samples within a hard copy portfolio alongside this.

How will I learn?
Objectives will be negotiated with the tutor at the start of the course and will be reviewed regularly. You will create a short digital portfolio to evidence your achievements for the qualification.

How will I know how well I am doing?
The tutor will provide developmental feedback throughout the course and support you in recording your work digitally to meet the qualification criteria.

Will I have to do any work at home ?
You will be encouraged to research at home and work on your digital portfolio.

What will I need to provide?
It is essential that you wear strong shoes and clothes which are suitable for machine operation. An apron. Notebook and pen.

Are there any other costs?
The tutor will advise of resource costs. Costs are kept as low as possible dependent on projects chosen. You may be entitled to some support with the cost of the resources, speak to customer services or visit the website for more information.
