Description
A 2-week course in-centre in the ACL Mental Health and Wellbeing Programme identifying characteristics of self-resilience, the benefits of practicing resilience in day to day interactions, introducing strategies and tools to develop self-resilience. The course offers group learning facilitated by two tutors who have professional and lived experience of mental health and is funded by Essex County Council to support its residents' wellbeing. To be eligible to enrol you must reside or work in Essex. No more than one course in the Mental Health and Wellbeing programme to be taken per week in order to apply learning in daily life before further courses are undertaken.

Who is the course for?
To be eligible for this course you must reside or work within Essex. This course is for those wishing to learn what is self-resilience, explore the meaning and importance of resilience and gain some strategies for dealing with challenges. This course is not suitable for those who are currently in a state of severe emotional difficulty or psychological confusion.
What can I expect to learn?
You will gain an understanding of what is self-resilience, explore the meaning and importance of resilience and gain some strategies for dealing with challenges.
How will I learn?
Classes are with two tutors who have professional and lived experience of mental health. Learning activities will include tutor presentations, group discussions, group and individual activities, individual reflection and a chance to ‘check-in’ at each session in a supportive learning environment.
How will I know how well I am doing?
Feedback will be given regularly by your course tutors and you will be encouraged to reflect on your own learning and keep a record of your progress.
Will I have to do any work at home?
You will be encouraged to practice techniques in everyday life between sessions, to help develop personal strategies to build resilience.
What will I need to provide?
A notepad and pen for notetaking.
What is the cost of this course?
There is no charge for this course. This course is funded by Essex County Council to support its residents’ wellbeing.
