Description

A 6-week live online course in the ACL Mental Health and Wellbeing Programme offering an introduction to strategies to help build self-confidence, looking at self-awareness, assertiveness, negotiation and personal skills. The course offers group learning facilitated by two tutors who have professional and lived experience of mental health and is funded by Essex County Council to support its residents' wellbeing. To be eligible you must reside or work in Essex. No more than one course in the Mental Health and Wellbeing programme to be taken per week in order to apply learning in daily life before further courses are undertaken. You will need a current laptop/PC with webcam, microphone, internet connection and be able to access websites.

What Qualification/level is this course?
This course does not lead to a qualification and is for personal development.

Who is the course for?
To be eligible for this course you must reside or work within Essex. This course is for those wishing to improve their self-confidence and mental wellbeing.

What can I expect to learn?
You will gain an introduction to strategies to help improve self-confidence, understand the difference between self confidence and self esteem, learn effective techniques for positive communication, assertive skills as well as helpful negotiation tips and strategies to use in everyday situations to help boost your self confidence.

How will I learn?
This course is live online in weekly class sessions. Classes are with two tutors who have professional and lived experience of mental health. Learning activities will include tutor presentations, group discussions, group and individual activities, individual reflection and a chance to ‘check-in’ at each session in a supportive learning environment.

How will I know how well I am doing?
Tutor will give feedback as appropriate in short course to help you gauge your progress and you will be encouraged to reflect on your own development.

Will I have to do any work at home ?
You will be encouraged to practice techniques in everyday life to help develop personal strategies in building self-confidence.

What will I need to provide?
You will need a laptop or PC with current operating system, webcam, microphone, Google browser, internet connection. A notepad and pen for notetaking.

What is the cost of this course?
There is no charge for this course.
