Description
A 6-week course in-centre in the ACL Mental Health and Wellbeing Programme offering practical advice, tips and strategies to manage and reduce anxiety, and develop helpful routines, thinking styles and behaviours in staying healthy. The course offers group learning facilitated by two tutors who have professional and lived experience of mental health. To be eligible you must reside or work in Essex. No more than one course in the Mental Health and Wellbeing programme to be taken per week in order to apply learning in daily life before further courses are undertaken.

Who is the course for?
To be eligible for this course you must reside or work within Essex.
This course is for those wishing to reduce feelings of anxiety and develop helpful behaviours and thinking styles to improve mental health wellbeing. This course is not suitable for those who are currently in a state of severe emotional difficulty or psychological confusion.
What can I expect to learn?
Topics include/you will learn: Practical techniques in managing and reducing anxiety; Understand how our current behaviours and routines are impacting our health and levels of anxiety; Recognise barriers to staying healthy and identify realistic solutions or alternatives;
Activities that can be helpful in developing a sense of control and wellbeing; How to reframe negative thinking; Identify how to self-care and how to develop and keep a daily routine to help to maintain or improve health & wellbeing.
How will I learn?
Classes are with two tutors who have professional and lived experience of mental health. Learning activities will include tutor presentations, group discussions, group and individual activities, individual reflection and a chance to ‘check-in’ at each session in a supportive learning environment..
How will I know how well I am doing?
Feedback will be given regularly by your course tutors and you will be encouraged to reflect on your own learning and record your feedback.
Will I have to do any work at home ?
You will be encouraged to practice techniques in everyday life between sessions, to help develop personal strategies to reduce anxiety.
What will I need to provide?
A notepad and pen for notetaking.
What is the cost of this course?
There is no charge for this course. This course is funded by Essex County Council to support its residents’ wellbeing.
