Description

This course is for anyone who has a learning difficulty or disability and would like to improve their Maths skills for everyday life, to increase independence or to improve work prospects. You will work at your own pace but must work towards a qualification. Courses are available in most of our centres on a variety of days and times. You will need to attend a pre-course meeting with a tutor to complete an assessment before starting this course. At the meeting, you will be able to discuss all the options available to you and any concerns you may have.

What Will Happen At My First Lesson
The first week of your course will include a diagnostic assessment. This will help you and your tutor to understand what you are already good at and what areas of maths you find more challenging. Your tutor will then decide what qualification you will work towards. All learners on this course will have to work towards a qualification.

Entry level through to Level 2.

Who is this course for?
Young people and adults aged 19+ with learning disabilities and/or Autism.

What can I expect to Learn?
Through personalised learning experiences, you will develop a strong understanding of key concepts in Maths, and digital skills, ensuring you are well-prepared for success in your academic journey.

How will I learn?
Your tutor will use a number of different teaching methods to develop your skills. These will include a wide range of authentic materials, individual study, working in pairs/group activities and will include the use of video/audio.

How will I know how well I am doing?
You will have a negotiated individual learning plan which will record your progress each week. Feedback will also be given during the lesson.

Will I need to do extra work at home?
You will be encouraged to use your news skills at home and in the community.

What will I need to provide?
Please bring paper, pen and a folder to keep your work organised.

Are there any other costs?
Money for a drink and snack at break time, or you are welcome to bring your own with you. Additional costs may be requested for some resources.
