Description

This course is designed to integrate traditional fine art techniques with modern digital tools, providing a comprehensive understanding in both areas. Develop your creative abilities, technical skills, confidence in exploring new techniques and critical thinking. A great preparation for a dynamic career in the contemporary art world or to enjoy experimenting with the new opportunities digital art have to offer.

What will happen on my first session?
You will discuss your starting points with your tutor and negotiate suitable projects.

Who is this course for?
Suitable for anyone with an interest in using digital technology to create their own unique artworks.

What can I expect to learn?
You will learn how to use basic digital tools and platforms to create images using effective prompts and develop a basic understanding of the complexities of using these tools. This will include 1. Fundamentals of Fine Art: Introduction to traditional fine art techniques, including drawing, painting, and print. 2. Digital Art Techniques: Exploration of digital tools and software such as Afinity, Microsoft Co-Pilot and other relevant programs. 3. Mixed Media Projects: Combining traditional and digital techniques to create innovative art pieces. 4. Art History and Theory: Study of significant art movements and their impact on contemporary practices. 5. Professional Practice: Understanding the business aspects of being an artist, including portfolio development, marketing, and exhibition planning.

How will I know how I am progressing?
You will be provided with feedback throughout the course. You will be encouraged to record your learning and progress, share ideas and feedback with your tutor and peers to maximise your learning.

Will I have any homework?
Your tutor will set you tasks to complete between sessions to enable you to further apply skills you have learnt.

What will I need to provide?
Please bring to the first session a notepad and a pen and pencil. You will benefit from having access to a tablet or PC outside the classroom to enable further independent practice.
