Qualification Aim/Level
This is a Level 2 course.
You must undertake an initial assessment prior to enrolling on this course. If you are unable to attend on the Barbering Pre Course Assessment dates shown, please leave your contact details at the relevant centre and the tutor will call you to arrange a mutually convenient time.
Who is this course for?
The VTCT Barbering Level 2 course is designed for beginners with no prior experience in barbering, as well as hairdressing professionals seeking to gain a Level 2 qualification in barbering. It's ideal for anyone looking to start a career as a barber.
What can I expect to Learn?
The course will provide the knowledge and practical skills necessary to demonstrate a professional approach in the workplace including the need for appropriate communication with clients and colleagues, units will include:
Advising and consulting with clients;
Shampooing, conditioning and treating hair and scalp;
Cutting men's hair using basic techniques;
Creating basic outlines and detailing in hair;
Cutting facial hair to shape using basic techniques;
Drying and finishing men's hair and plait and twist.
How will I learn?
The classroom-based learning will comprise a combination of demonstrations, discussions, and extensive hands-on practice.You will also have the opportunity to engage in community outreach by providing haircuts for various support groups. An experienced tutor will be available to assist and guide you throughout the process.
How will I know how well I am doing?
Your tutor will give feedback as appropriate throughout the course to help you gauge your progress. Feedback may be verbal or written. You will record your progress on an individual learning plan.
