Gain understanding of issues around mental health difficulties, explore causes and common perceptions of mental health difficulties, develop knowledge of the rights of those who experience mental health difficulties and how to find appropriate support. Leading to the NCFE CACHE Level 1 Award in Mental Health Awareness. You will gain valuable insight through tutor and peer support, group discussions and activities and independent work to explore thoroughly all the themes of the course. This provides a secure foundation of knowledge and understanding of key elements in mental health awareness and will help you identify your next steps towards developing further skills for personal development or working in the mental health sector.

Qualification Aim/Level
This course leads to the Ncfe Level 1 Award in Mental Health Awareness. This qualification is achieved through the creation of a portfolio that evidences your achievements and successful completion of the awarding body criteria.

By the end of the course learners will be able to: • To understand what is meant by mental health and mental ill-health. • To recognize the symptoms of common mental health conditions. • To explore the factors that can influence mental health. • To understand the importance of mental health and well-being. • To learn about ways to support mental health and well-being. Compile a portfolio of evidence for achievement of this qulaification

How will I learn?
A range of teaching and learning activities including tutor presentations and group and individual discussion and activities with reference to online resources.

How will I know how well I am doing?
Tutor feedback, evaluation activities and self-reflection will enable you to understand your progress. Assessment will be on-going throughout the course linked to an individual learning plan to be regularly updated with learner and tutor feedback.

Will I need to do extra work at home?
Yes you will be encouraged to reflect on your learning each week to develop skills. Some work will be set to generate evidence required for your portfolio that will be submitted for internal and external verification at the end of the course. Learning resources and internet links to further information supports learning between sessions.

What will I need to provide?
A notepad and pen for notetaking. You will need access to a pc/laptop or digital tablet in order to complete your portfolio of evidence to achieve the qualification.
