Aimed at lead care workers that have key responsibilities for the delivery of care and support. They will have a level of delegated responsibility, such as key workers, senior care assistants or advanced support workers. It comprises of core mandatory units that take an analytical approach to support learners to monitor and evaluate their own care teams practice. This will begin to build on their confidence to lead a team of adult care workers.
Course Description
For the Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care (England) learners will have a level of delegated responsibility. It comprises of core mandatory units that take an analytical approach to support learners to monitor and evaluate their own care teams practice. This will begin to build on their confidence to lead a team of adult care workers.
Who is the Course for?
This is aimed at key workers, senior care assistants, advanced support workers, or care coordinators.
Entry Requirements
Learners will undertake an initial assessment, including English and a skills scan. There are no formal qualification requirements, although having completed a vocational qualification in adult care, and GCSE math and English would be beneficial. Learners must be in an appropriate job role to collect the relevant evidence.
What will I Learn?
The qualification comprises of the following core mandatory units:

Promote own continuous personal and professional development
Person-centred practice, choice and independence
Understand how to promote personal wellbeing
Promote equality, diversity, inclusion and human rights in care settings
Promote health and safety in care settings
Support the health and wellbeing of individuals in a care setting
Scope and responsibilities of an adult care worker
Understand duty of care
Understand how to safeguard individuals
Understand mental capacity and restrictive practices
Infection prevention and control in a care setting
Optional units can include Personal and professional behaviour in adult care, Administer medication to individuals and monitor the effects, Lead an effective team, Facilitate assessment planning, implementation and review using person-centred and strengths-based approaches.
How will I be Assessed?
The tutor will communicate with learners through the online platform, email, and Microsoft Teams. Work will be regularly assessed and marked, and learners will be provided with encouraging developmental feedback. Learners will also be set targets at different stages of the learning programme to enable personal and course objectives to be met. Reviews of progress will be carried out every 12 weeks with the learner, line manager or employer and the tutor.
Will I have to do any work at home?
Learners will be expected to undertake some independent study to complete research, reading and home study. Learners should allow at least 5 - 10 hours each week for this.
Typically, the course will take 18 months.
What will I need to Provide?
Learners will need to have access to a computer or device to enable them to visit the online platform to complete and submit work. Device to enable tutor contact.
Pen/pad of paper for taking notes for example to use during one to one phone meetings.
Are there any Costs?
There are no other costs in addition to the course fee. Funding is discussed prior to enrolment onto this qualification.
