The learner is considered to be an expert at this level; they will have prior knowledge and skills at Level 2 in the related subject area.The focus consists of core knowledge units aligned to the types, causes, signs and symptoms of diabetes, anatomy and physiology, the impact of diabetes on individuals, others and society, the treatment and management of diabetes and common complications of diabetes.

What Qualification/level is this course?
The Level 3 Certificate in Understanding the Care and Management of Diabetes focuses on core knowledge units. These are aligned to the types, causes, signs and symptoms of diabetes, anatomy and physiology, the impact of diabetes on individuals, others and society, the treatment and management of diabetes and common complications of diabetes.

Who is the course for?
The Level 3 qualification, at this level is aimed at an expert in the care and management of diabetes. They will have prior knowledge and skills at Level 2 in the related subject area.

What can I expect to learn?
The qualification comprises of the following core mandatory units: Understand diabetes Diabetes in context Understand the treatment and management of diabetes Understand the complications of diabetes

How will I learn?
A self-directed online course where learners will carry out research and reflection for the subject area. Learners will be directed to online tools and reputable websites. Learners must successfully demonstrate their achievement of all learning outcomes of the units to achieve the qualification. The learner will be assigned a marking tutor, additionally they will have the opportunity to meet online for dedicated support sessions associated to the subject area. .

How will I know how well I am doing?
Learners will have an assigned tutor who will communicate on the online platform and when needed telephone or Microsoft Teams. Work will be regularly assessed and marked, and learners will be provided with encouraging developmental feedback. Targets will be set at different stages of the course to enable learners to meet personal and course objectives.

Will I have to do any work at home?
We recommend at least 6 to 8 hours a week to complete research, reading and home study. Typically, the course can be completed in 6 months.

What will I need to provide?
Learners will need to have access to a computer or device to enable them to visit the online platform to complete and submit work. Telephone to enable tutor contact. Pen/pad of paper for taking notes for example to use during one to one phone meetings.
