What Qualification/level is this course?
This course does not lead to a qualification and is for personal development at beginner level.

Who is the course for?
To be eligible for this course you must reside or work within Essex. This course is for those wishing to gain an introduction to the concepts of mental health wellbeing and identify their own personal journey to improving mental health. This course is not suitable for those who are currently in a state of severe emotional difficulty or psychological confusion.

What can I expect to learn?
Learners will define mental wellbeing and identify their own personal journey to improving mental health through goal setting, affirmations and discussions with like-minded people.

How will I learn?
Classes are with two tutors who have professional and lived experience of mental health. Learning activities will include tutor presentations, group discussions, group and individual activities, individual reflection and a chance to ‘check-in’ at each session in a supportive learning environment.

How will I know how well I am doing?
Feedback will be given regularly by your course tutors and you will be encouraged to reflect on your own learning and keep a record of your progress.

Will I have to do any work at home ?
You will be encouraged to reflect on your learning between sessions and apply understanding in everyday life.

What will I need to provide?
A notepad and pen for notetaking.

What is the cost of this course?
There is no charge for this course. This course is funded by Essex County Council to support its residents’ wellbeing.
